The National Programme of Nutritional Support to Primary Education (NSPE), popularly known as the Mid-Day Meal Scheme, is one of the major initiatives of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India to achieve Universalisation of Elementary Education in the country. With the extension of Mid-Day Meal Programme to Upper Primary Stage, Mid-Day Meal Programme is now one of the flagship Programmes of Govt. of India. This Programme, therefore, requires close monitoring and evaluation through internal and external monitoring, supervision, guidance, and integration of various activities at all levels based on the advise of experts in the area of Planning, Monitoring, Supervision, Evaluation, Impact Studies, Documentation, Nutrition, Inclusive Education for Children, Media etc. A Technical Support Group to support the Scheme has been established under the aegis of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) by EdCIL (India) Limited to perform these vital tasks.
