Independence Day - CMD's Message | Print |

 Dear EdCILians,

I greet you and every member of your family on the Independence Day. The day has a special significance as we strongly march into 70th year of our independence. As the largest democracy and a nation which would be the most populated by 2050, our development journey has been significant. India set up robust infrastructure and created institutional frame work in the first four decades. Since 1991, we have launched a more exciting journey of liberalization including FDI easing, Telecom Liberalization and now with introduction of “GST” “Make in India”. “Digital India” and “Startup India” are game changing programmes of Government which are being taken forward in right earnest.

The economy has been growing at 8 to 10% which is a significant year on year growth. We have to sustain this over few decades if we have to take another 300 to 400 million fellow Indians out of poverty line.

Education sector has made significant progress with access having increased and literacy reaching over 70% in Primary Education. Quality of primary education is however a concern. Absence of employment alignment to higher education is another area requiring immediate attention.

As the only PSU under MHRD, we now have to ask the question, “Have we done enough?”

The Company has to both register sustained high growth and make lasting impact. During F/Y-2015-16, we have registered a 122% growth, with turnover having increased from Rs. 74 Crore (F/Y-2014-15) to Rs. 175 Crore (F/Y- 2015-16). We are creating a pipeline of talent by having Management Trainees inducted for the first time. ERP is under introduction to improve automation of processes. A medium term strategy is under preparation to chart out Company’s immediate growth trajectory. The Company has initiated systematic business development efforts through setting up of a dedicated team, Several HR measures have been taken to enhance employee satisfaction.

We are planning to achieve a quantum jump in growth over next 2 to 3 years, as would have been expected to be achieved over a period of couple of decades. The transition from “Business as usual” to “Business as never before” would involve highest focus and involvement of every member of the Company. I am confident that each of you would rise to the occasion and be a proud member in the transformation journey.

I again greet you and your family on the proud occasion. Let this be a significant moment for us to resolve to contribute significantly to transform the education sector and contribute to national growth significantly.

Jai Hind,
(Diptiman Das)
Chairman cum Managing Director
